20 Of The World’s Most Secluded (And Beautiful) Beaches
7. Macushia Beach, Australia
With its unique wildlife and access to the Great Barrier Reef, you’d think that Macushia Beach would be an incredibly popular tourist destination.
This is not the case however; visitors are continually surprised to find the lovely Macushia Beach almost completely free of human life.
Macushia Beach is located within Hinchinbrook Island National Park, the largest island national park in the entire world.
In hopes of preserving the wildlife, access to the beach has been severely limited. The only resort located near the beach is the Hinchinbrook Island Wilderness Lodge, which only offers accommodations for fifty visitors. Day trips are similarly difficult, as the island is only accessible with the help of a forty minute boat ride from the town of Cardwell.
Those lucky enough to obtain lodging at the Hinchinbrook Island Wilderness Lodge are able to enjoy access to several of Australia’s most secluded beaches. Visitors typically end up touring one of three main beach destinations on Hinchinbrook Island: North Shepherd Beach, South Shepherd Beach, and, of course, the gorgeous Macushia Beach.
The vast beach is home to some of the best sunsets in Australia, as well as plenty of cockatoos and turtles. You can spend your entire time on Hinchinbrook relaxing in the soft sand at Macushia Beach, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, checking out the nearby waterfalls.
