20 Of The World’s Most Secluded (And Beautiful) Beaches

10. Kaupoa Beach, Hawaii1014Molokai is easily the least developed of the major Hawaiian islands, at least as far as the tourism industry is concerned.
Even so, several of the island’s beaches remained packed with sunbathers all year long.
This is not the case at Kaupoa Beach, a desolated, haunted shoreline with a name that translates to “Place of Thieves.” It’s hard to believe, given the current emptiness of the beach, but this used to be one of Molokai’s most popular destinations.
The resort at Kaupoa closed down some time ago, leaving a haunted stretch of shore in its wake. Today, those who dare visit Kaupoa are greeted by a sad, yet intriguing view of abandoned cabins and headless palm trees.
Back in the day, the resort staff at Kaupoa opted to cut off the tops of these trees so as to reduce the prospect of branches falling down on lounging tourists.
Now, the stunted palm trees simply add to the eerie feel of the beach. Other palm trees still provide some shade for those who want to lounge on the beach. Although the resort feels like it’s been abandoned for decades, it was actually still in operation as of seven years ago. It officially closed down in 2008; its future as a tourist destination remains unknown.
For now, Kaupoa still offers stunning ocean views and plenty of snorkeling opportunities when the ocean is calm, which is during the summer months.
