20 Of The World’s Most Secluded (And Beautiful) Beaches
9. Port Isaac, United Kingdom
If you’ve ever watched the ITV hit Doc Martin, you may have noticed that the setting, Port Wenn, is home to a truly spectacular beach.
In real life, the town responsible for Doc Martin’s unique scenery is known as Port Isaac. Located in Cornwall, Port Isaac holds a long history as a fishing village.
In recent years, the quaint town has been forced to welcome an increased number of tourists, most of whom visit in hopes of checking out their favorite Doc Martin filming destinations.
However, even with this constant trickle of TV tourism, the town is still relatively quiet compared to your typical British weekend destination.
The coast in and around Port Isaac is incredibly rugged, so exploring by foot can be quite challenging. However, if you’re up to the task, you’ll be rewarded with some of the best scenery Cornwall has to offer, including spectacular views, coves, and cliffs. Rock pools can be interesting to explore.
Polzeath, located just a few miles from Port Isaac, is widely regarded as one of the best surfing beaches in the United Kingdom. It is open to surfers of all ages and levels. If you’d rather lounge around on the beach, your best bet is Daymer Bay, where the fine sands allow for incredibly restful naps.
